Helpful Prep Tips
Try to get to bed early Saturday evening.
Drink lots of water all day Saturday and bring bottled water to rehearsal with you. (It is amazing how much this makes a difference.)
Avoid sleeping under direct air flow.
I know this is difficult, but avoid caffeine Sunday morning. Go for decaf coffee or tea.
Do lip trills and warm-up your voice as you drive to rehearsal. This will protect you from stripping your voice in the early morning rehearsal. If you want, you can find many formal warm-ups here
Pray. The enemy doesn’t want you to sing and wants to make this about what you are or aren’t doing. The truth is: This is about what God is doing in and through us.
Finding Your Vocal Part
Vocal Part Rehearsal Tracks will be placed online, in Planning Center Services (PCO). They will be designated as alto (lower female part) or tenor (upper male part). If you are most comfortable singing the lead line, you may use the original recording provided for the band.
If you are unsure of what part you should learn, try singing with the vocal rehearsal track, and if it is not comfortable in your range, then plan to sing lead for that song. This may only apply to one or two songs. We are pretty flexible on Sunday mornings. So it is ok if a singer moves from lead on one song to alto on another. It is suggested that the ladies either sing lead or alto, although I know some can sing tenor. To sing the tenor line is very draining on the female voice so please be cautious about this.
Learning the Lyrics
Lyric Charts for each song with choir-specific instructions will be posted on PCO. Occasionally, printed packets of the choir lyric charts will be available on Sunday morning, but you may want to print them yourself and put them in a binder to ensure you have a copy if you need it. These charts are also helpful for rehearsing during the week. A copy of the choir lyric charts will be printed and placed on a music stand in front of the choir for use during the service. As much as possible, please try to memorize the songs using these charts during the week so that you are able to truly engage in worship during the service.
To easily find and print the Lyric Charts, follow these steps:
Open PCO and the Sunday plan that the choir is scheduled to serve on. On the top right of the Sermon Title, click on the book icon that says, “Rehearse.”
Choose "Download all PDFs."
Under "Files to Include," unclick all except "Other PDFs." After this, click below on “Accept.”
This downloads a Songbook onto your computer to print. The Lyric Charts will print in the worship order.
